Carter and His Changing Table

After Carter wakes up from his naps I always feed him and then change his diaper. For some reason he always smiles at me when I put him on his changing table. So before I change his diaper we talk for a minute. :) I talk and he will talk back and give me big grins! It's always one of the highlights of my day!

Here's Carter in his cute sleeper. :)

That's my boy! His smile brightens my day!

He loves talking to his mommy! :)

He works so hard to get his cute little noises out. It's so fun to watch him try and talk to me! :)

He loves it when I give him a big smile!

All done talking now. Time for his diaper change. :)

2 Months!!

2 Month Stats

Weight: 14 lbs 9.5 oz (95th percentile!)
Length: 22.75 in
Head Circumference: 16 in

Carter is 2 months old! I can't believe we've survived this long! :) Thank goodness life gets easier as time goes on and I get more sleep. :) Carter lets me have at least 6 hours of continuous sleep every night. One night I even got 8 hours all at once! He must know mommy is a lot more fun to be with when she gets her sleep. Now we just need to work on getting him to sleep at night. Night time seems to be his fussy time and sometimes it takes a few hours to get
him to sleep. But at least once he's asleep he sleeps for a while! We can't complain!

Carter and I went in for his 2 month check up yesterday. I got him to smile at me in his car seat! Little did he know what the next hour would bring....

Carter loves his mommy!

Carter had a rough time at the doctor this time around. He was great at his 1 month appointment, but not this time. I had to feed him after the doctor checked him out to get him to calm down and then again after his immunizations. Carter got two shots and one oral vaccine. He cried through it all. But once I put him in his car seat and walked to the car he was fast asleep. Luckily Carter had his daddy that night to try and calm him down.

But a lot of his night was spent more like this....

Carter had a fever of 101 that night as a result of his immunizations. We gave him some Tylenol and waited patiently for him to fall asleep. He slept restlessly for a little while until I fed him again and he finally went down for the night. Poor little kiddo. We felt so bad watching him and know we would just have to wait for it to go away. There was not much we could do except try and comfort him as best we could.

One more cute picture of Carter! He has found his hands and he loves to suck on his left one as you can see. :)

I just can't get enough

of that cute little face!!! I love it when he makes that face. :)

Mommy why are you taking pictures of me??

A little tummy time on a pillow. He loves to suck on his arm when we put him on his tummy.

I just thought some of you might like to see how chubby our little guy is. He has rolls everywhere!

Bath time! This is Carter's second bath in his tub. His umbilical cord stayed on for a whole month! So we had to wait a while to give him a real bath.

He was pretty much like this the whole time. :)

All ready to hit the town! In case you were wondering, these are 3-6 month clothes he is wearing and he's not even 2 months old yet! There are pants that go with the outfit but hey are way too long so we went with the camo shorts. :) Carter has a big body and short legs. :)

Carter had just given himself a nice scratch on his face so he got to wear his little gloves for a while. He has finally found his hands and loves to suck on his left one.

Carter loves to look at his daddy!

He was trying to smile for the camera! :)

Big Smile!

So far I think this is my favorite part of being a mom! Seeing my little guy with a huge grin just for me is the most amazing feeling in the world! Times like these make up for all the crying and being difficult. :) Carter just has to remind his mommy every once in a while that he really does know who she is and loves her!

Once again I apologize for the quality. I didn't want to miss the moment by trying to find the camera! But my phone is always on hand. :)
Isn't he just the cutest little boy in the whole world??
After we had some fun together I put Carter in his bouncer for a nap and he still kept smiling at me. :)
After smiling for a minute he decided he was still hungry so I fed him a little more and then he fell fast asleep.
Look at those cheeks! We find out next Friday how much he weighs. I'm sure it's a ton! He's getting too heavy for his mommy!
We love our little Carter!

Devastating Tornadoes

On Friday, March 2nd, we had devastating tornadoes rip through Indiana and surrounding states. An F4 tornado hit just 15 miles north of our apartment. It was on the ground for 50 miles! Over 35 people have been confirmed dead in 4 states. There were 12 in Indiana and 21 in Kentucky. Luckily it was not much worse than that! The weather people are very good at getting the word out and I think it saved a lot of people's lives.

On Saturday Rory and I met with other people from our ward to put together sack lunches for the relief workers trying to start the clean up. Luckily Carter slept so I got to help put the lunches together!

Our ward normally meets at 11:30 on Sunday, but today we met at 9 and combined with another ward for Sacrament meeting. We just had the one meeting and then the sisters stayed to put together more sack lunches. We came home and Rory got ready to help at 12. Ward members were encouraged to meet at another meeting house at noon and then go with the Salvation Army to volunteer at different cities. Rory ended up in Marysville to help with the clean up. I wanted to go so bad! I really wanted to help, but I knew it wasn't safe to take Carter out there. Rory said he's surprised more people don't get hurt just trying to help clean up.

Below I have posted the pictures that Rory took while he was working on two different houses. I guess they were told to just head out and see how they could help.

This picture shows the foundation of where a house used to be.

At this house they just gathered together all the wood and metal and put them in two piles to be picked up later. That is one of the few houses that still looked like a house.

In the front of the picture you can see the foundation and then the house was picked up and thrown off to the side.

There used to be a second floor...

Rory was just glad the ceiling didn't collapse in on them.

This is the pile of things deemed salvageable.

This picture shows just how far the house was moved off the foundation.

These tornadoes were the worst ever recorded in March. The devastation is unbelievable! It will take weeks for these small towns to recover. Most of the towns are pretty much going to have to build for the ground up and start all over. The outpouring of help from everyone has been incredible. So much has been donated to help those with nothing. Everyone seems to come together in times of devastation. Hopefully these towns will recover. Rory and I are thankful that we safe and that we were not physically affected by the storm!

Cute Carter!

I've taken a bunch of pictures of Carter on my cell phone so I thought I'd post a few of them. :) They're not the best quality, but Carter is still a cutie!

When Carter isn't swaddled, he likes to sleep with his hands up by his face. Look at those chubby cheeks! :)

Carter spends a lot of time furrowing that little brow of his. It's adorable! :)

Doesn't Carter have the cutest little smile? He's still working on controlling it, but I've gotten a few pretty good grins out of him. I wasn't able to capture the big grin, but here's a little smile. :)

In his cute little Daddy's MVP outfit! Isn't he adorable?

Carter takes his morning nap in the swing. I still swaddle him though so he'll sleep a little longer. :) Half the time he gets his little hands out!

After one of his naps, Carter started making noises so I went in to see if he was awake. I undid the top of his swaddle to see if it would help him wake up faster. I love watching him try to wake up. It's so cute! As soon as I undid his swaddle his little arms went straight up over his head. :) And then he continued to sleep. :)

I need to be better about taking pictures, but I thought you'd all enjoy the few that I have! Even if they are off my phone. :) Rory and I have the cutest baby ever!
