7 Months

Carter is 7 months old! I cannot believe he is already in the second half of his first year of life! :) Rory and I have the cutest little boy in the whole wide world. We love him to pieces!

New things for Carter this month:

Can sit up when he wants to. He still tips over when he's tired of sitting up.
Is now eating solid food about 2-4 times a day and still loves it all.
Very impatient when it comes to eating.
He's a very noisy eater.
Can grab bite size pieces of food and feed himself. A lot of his hand usually goes into his mouth as well though. :)
Went swimming for the first time.
Scoots/army crawls around when left alone on the floor.
Always all smiles for other people. . .  until they try to hold him. :)
Loves walks in his stroller.
Loves going down the slide with his daddy.
Goes to bed at 8 every night.
Wakes up between 5 and 6:30 every morning (occassionally earlier). Usually goes back to sleep after eating.
Is finally taking most of his naps in his crib again.
Doesn't really like to be left alone for very long.
Got his first haircut and was great with the razor.
Going outside always calms him down when he's upset.
Figured out how to make an ear piercing scream. Thankfully it only lasted a couple weeks.
Has great form when doing push ups.
Tries really hard to sit himself up when he's laying down. He's great at working his abs. :)
Says dadada. I think that's the first syllable he has said on purpose.
Doesn't like to stop nursing even when he's done eating. I have to distract him when he's done or he freaks out.
Nothing keeps his attention for very long.

Carter fell asleep on his stomach in the corner of his crib...

Our Big Kahuna. :)

Trying out the baby carrier. Carter loved being able to look all around.

Carter's new exersaucer. It will entertain him for short periods of time just like anything else.

Skippy Jon Jones!

Swinging with Dad.

Isn't he adorable in his hat?

Watching the Olympics with Daddy.

Squeaky clean.

I was washing dishes and Rory was trying to calm down a screaming Carter. They go into Carter's room and he continues to scream. After a few more minutes they come out and Carter is wearing a Halloween costume. Rory thought it would be fun to put it on him. Carter wasn't sure how he felt about it. :)

Carter's daily exercises routine consists of: push ups

Look at that form!

and crunches. He even does them both with a smile! :)

It's hard to tell, but Carter is sitting up all by himself in these next two pictures.

This is the cutest picture. I wish it wasn't so blurry. Oh well.

Just chilling on the floor watching TV, using his toy as a pillow. :) (Carter rarely just lays still like this.)

Playing at the park!

Watching the Little League World Series.

Carter is developing more of a personality every day and we love it! He is growing so fast. There is something new everyday. It's hard to keep up with him! Carter can definitely try our patience, but he makes up for it with his adorable smile and happy self when he's fed and not tired. :)

Carter, you are so much fun to play with now. You love to interact and talk with us. You have so much energy and it is hard to keep you entertained! I love our special bonding time when I nurse you. It's one of the few times you will cuddle with me and I love it when you talk to me when you're done eating. Your Dad and I love to take you on walks and go to the park. We love to watch your face as you go down the slide on our lap. Your smile brightens our home. We hope you continue to be a happy little boy and will always use your boundless energy for good! We love you so much Carter!

Swimming

Our apartment complex has a pool so one evening we thought we'd take Carter for his first swim. He has dipped his toes in Bear Lake, but technically that isn't swimming. :)

Excited to get in!

Once he got over the initial shock of getting into cold water it wasn't so bad. He had a few gasps as he went farther in the water but he got used to it quick. :)

Just hanging out.

I put Carter's hand in the water to see what he'd do. For some reason he thought he was supposed to eat the water. He kept putting his hand back in and then sticking it in his mouth. I can't imagine it tasted very good.

Carter seemed to enjoy the water. We'll have to do it again!

First Haircut

Carter's hair was getting long, so we finally decided to give him his first haircut. We just used our razor on the longest setting and got to work. We only had to cut the hair on the top of his head because the rest isn't that long. :)

Before:

As his hair got longer is got really wispy. The picture doesn't quite do his hair justice. Oh well.

After:

Doesn't he look so adorable? His haircut makes him look older. My baby is growing up!

Stroller Rides

Since we got back from our trip to Utah we've been taking a lot of walks. We finally let Carter ride strapped into the stroller instead of in his car seat. He loves it! As we walk along he is content to look around at everything. He also loves to chew on the straps that buckle him in. :)

Carter's first stroller ride. Just chillin'. :)

One day we went to visit Rory's new office and go to lunch. It was pretty windy. Can you tell? :) Carter likes the wind in his face.

A couple nights ago we went on a walk. Rory and I were walking along talking when I looked down and Carter was in this position. haha. I'm not sure why he was holding on with his toe, but he did it for quite a while. :)

We've been taking a lot of walks at night when Carter starts to get a little fussy as he gets tired. It's one of the few things that always calms him down. He just loves being outside and riding around.

Food!

Carter LOVES food! My little boy is growing up. During our trip to Utah Carter got to try a few things and he loved everything. He had squash, banana, avocado, and a tiny bit of baby food and some licorice. When we got back home we got some different kinds of baby food to see if Carter was ready to start eating. At first I didn't let him eat very much, but he inhaled everything I gave him.

This is one of the first times we fed him.

Yummy peas. :) Veggies aren't his favorite, but Carter still eats them like a good boy.

Eating squash.

Sorry this picture is super blurry. I was trying to take it while feeding him. As you can see, Carter learned quickly that I wanted him to open wide. :) He is very good at opening his mouth to let me know he is ready for his next spoonful. haha.

Pears and apples are his favorite baby food. He pretty much inhales it. He also loves real banana and zucchini. He's also tried mashed potatoes and lies those as well. He's getting really good at picking up his little puff cereal things and he loves them. Carter is such a good little eater right now. He would just keep eating and eating if I let him. Hopefully he always eats this well!

Date Night

Rory and I went on a date Friday night! It was the first time we paid a baby sitter. We finally have Carter on a pretty good routine at night so we thought we could risk it. :) Carter went to bed at 8 and we picked up our baby sitter at 8:30 and then we were on our way. The dream baby sitting job, watching TV. :)

We went mini-golfing at the place in Louisville. We forgot the camera so we took a couple pictures with Rory's phone.

There were three different courses we got to play. We played two of them and then had a little break and played some pool. Then we finished up the last mini-golf course. Here's Rory on the final hole of one of the courses.

We ended the night with a treat and then headed home. It was so nice to go out by ourselves without a little one in tow. A little break is nice every once in a while. :)

Family Reunion at Bear Lake

While we were in Utah we also got to take a quick trip down to St. George. It was Carter's first time and of course it was the hottest week of the year! :) We flew into Cedar from Salt Lake because the tickets were super cheap. Rory's parents met us at the airport and then we met Hunter and Heather at Rusty's Ranch House for my second birthday dinner!

After dinner we went to Hunter and Heather's to eat the cake Polly made! Thanks Polly!

Later in the week we had a reunion with Rory's family in Bear Lake. It was a blast! Rory's Aunt and all her kids and their families were also with us so we had quite the group. There were 16 adults and 11 little kiddies all under the age of 8! We were all staying in one large cabin.

The night we got there we went to Pickleville Playhouse for dinner and a show. The dinner was great, even if Carter wasn't very happy. :)

After dinner Polly and Mike were great enough to watch Carter and Boston and Capri while the rest of us went to the show. We watched The Hanging of El Bandito. It was my first time watching a melodrama and we loved it. Rory even wanted to go back and watch it again. :) It was HILARIOUS! We could tell a lot of it was improvised and it would have been a lot of fun to watch it again and see how it differed. I even got a pickle during intermission. I love pickles so how could I not get one when I went to the Pickleville Playhouse? :)

The next day we went to the lake.

Carter's first time in water! We just put his toes in and he loved it, even though you can't tell from this picture. :)

Carter is so cute in the little life jacket. :) He has no neck so the jacket is up in his face.

If you look really close you can barely see the top of Carter's head and part of his body. :) We just putted around for a couple minutes so Carter could have his first ride on a wave runner.

Chilling in the beach chair while Mom and Dad were on the wave runner.

Naughty Grandma!

Carter loved the licorice.....

We forgot Carter's hat, so he borrowed Dad's for a bit.

Sorry about the picture overload, but there's still more! :) We spent lots of time playing at the cabin so here are some pictures of our fun!

Rory and I beat Hunter and Heather at table tennis.

And they beat us at pool. :)

Annika loved playing with Carter and he loved the attention! :)

Saturday we got a little game of wiffle ball going. In the beginning there were only a few of us, but by the end I think everyone was outside either playing or watching!

The guys had to bat left handed.

We spent a lot of time cheering on the little ones. :)

Carter had fun on the sidelines.

You always have to get pics of the grandkids!

We had such a fun time with everyone! Sharing a cabin with that many people can be crazy, but it was definitely a blast! I hope it's not too long until we can do it again. We were sad it had to come to an end, but we definitely needed to recover from our vacation when we got home! :)
